Tips to Fix Overheating Issue on Xiaomi 12T Pro
Here are a few things you can do to reduce overheating on your Xiaomi 12T Pro.
1. Avoid Sunlight
You must not keep your phone in direct sunlight for long. Many of the materials that are used in your phone are good conductors of heat. Hence, keeping the phone in direct sunlight will not only heat the exterior of your phone, but also the internal circuits and components.
Try to avoid direct sunlight as much as possible.
2. Change the Case
If you are using a protective case that doesn’t dissipate the heat properly, your phone will overheat. It is wise to remove the case and check whether the overheating issue recurs or not. If not, you must change your phone’s protective case.
3. Reduce Screen Brightness
If you increase the brightness of the screen, it can overheat the phone quickly. Increasing the screen brightness may be important for easy viewability when you use the phone outdoors. Instead, you can try an anti-glare screen protector and keep the screen brightness low.
4. Reduce Refresh Rate
A high screen refresh rate helps with smooth operations, especially during animations. However, that can also lead to overheating. You can reduce the refresh rate to fix the problem. Here are the steps you must follow:
- Go to Settings » Display Settings.
- Scroll to find the Refresh Rate section and there, change the refresh rate to 60 Hz.
5. Close Background Apps
Too many background apps running at once can lead to phone overheating. Close the background apps when you are not using them. Here is how you do that:
- Swipe up from the bottom of your home screen at stop at the middle of the screen.
- All the running apps will show up.
- Close all apps by tapping the X button at the bottom.
- To close individual apps, swipe each app to the left or the right.
6. Remove the Culprit App
If the overheating issue started after installing certain third-party apps, they may be the culprit. Uninstalling those apps can help to fix the problem. Just uninstall the recently installed apps. If you can’t pinpoint which apps you installed recently, start installing third-party apps one at a time and check whether the issue persists.
Another better way of doing this is to enter Safe Mode to understand whether third-party apps are causing this problem. To boot into Safe Mode, follow the steps below:
- Press and hold the Power key.
- On the screen, tap and hold the Power Off icon.
- Tap Ok to boot into Safe Mode.
Now check whether the phone is overheating or not. If not, third-party apps are most likely the culprit.
Boot out of Safe Mode and then check for available app updates from your Google Play account.
If updates are available, update them all and then check for overheating issues. If the issue persists, start removing one third-party app at a time until you remove the app that caused the issue. You can then reinstall other apps.
7. Update the Operating System
Bugs in the operating system of your Xiaomi 12T Pro can cause overheating issues. This happens when the OS is not well-optimized for battery usage. Xiaomi keeps releasing updates from time to time to fix different bugs.
To check for updates, go to Settings » About Phone » tap on MIUI Version. If updates are available, you will see the option on the screen. Just tap on the available update to download and install it.
8. Factory Reset Your Xiaomi 12T Pro
This is, of course, the last option. If any software glitch is causing this issue, performing a factory reset will resolve it. Here are the steps you must follow:
- Go to Settings » System » Reset Options.
- On the next screen, tap on ‘Factory Data Reset.’
In case a factory reset is not resolving the issue, take your phone to an authorized service center and ask them to take a look.
