Unfortunately, there is no unique solution that works for everyone. If you are facing the same issue, there are a few things you can do to resolve the problem. In most cases, the solutions mentioned below tend to resolve the issue.
Here is a quick list of fixes that you can try to fix the notification not showing up on iPhone 13 locked screen.
Tips to Fix Notification Not Showing Up On iPhone 13 Locked Screen
1. Turn off DND
Do Not Disturb or DND is a feature that will suppress all notifications on your phone. This feature is there to help your focus. It is quite normal for people to forget to turn off DND after they activated it. DND can also be activated accidentally.
So, check whether it is active or not. If you notice a half-moon-shaped icon on your status bar, the feature is active. To turn it off, go to Settings » Do Not Disturb. From there, use the toggle switch to turn it off.
2. Set ‘Show Preview’ to ‘Always.’
Check whether the option to show notifications (Apple calls them ‘Previews’) is turned on or not. To do that, follow the steps below:
- Go to Settings » Notifications.
- From there, tap on ‘Show Previews.’
- Finally, select the option, ‘Always.’
3. Allow Notifications for Specific Apps
If there is a specific app that is not showing notifications on your iPhone 13 locked screen, you can activate the notification for that specific app. Follow the steps below:
- Go to Settings » Notifications.
- From there, select and tap on the specific app that is not showing notifications.
- On the next screen, activate the options ‘Allow Notifications,’ and ‘Show on Lock Screen.’
You can repeat this process for as many apps as you want.
4. Disable Notification Summary

- Go to Settings » Notifications.
- Select Scheduled Summary and then turn it off.
5. Disable Airplane Mode
You may have accidentally turned on the Airplane Mode. With this feature turned on, all network activities are halted. You will not receive text messages, phone calls, or even app notifications.
If it is active, you can disable the feature using the following steps:
- Expand the control center from the upper right corner.
- Check if the Airplane Mode icon is active. If yes, tap on it to deactivate it.

iPhone 13 has a feature called Attention Aware Alerts. This feature will check for a user’s attention before performing the following:

This feature can cause issues. You can disable it using the following steps:

- Press and hold both the side button and either of the volume buttons.
- The ‘Power Off’ slider will show up on the screen.
- Drag the slider from left to right.
8. Double Check Sound & Haptics
Double check the Sound & Haptics section to see if alert tones are set for the apps. Here is what you must do:
- Go to Settings » Sound & Haptics.
- From there, scroll to the Sound and Vibration Patterns section.
Check if the notification sounds are enabled for the options like Text Tone, New Voicemail, Sent Mail, New Mail, etc. You can tap on each option to select a tone. Remember not to select ‘None’ because that will stop notification sounds.
9. Disable Silent Mode
If you are receiving notification sounds but the device is not playing any sound, the phone may be in Silent Mode.
On the left side of the phone, there is a physical switch. If the switch is away from the screen and there is an orange strip visible, your phone is in silent mode. Flip it to the other side (that is, towards the screen). This will turn off the silent mode.
10. Check Your Apple Watch
If you are using an Apple Watch, the notifications may be reaching there instead of your iPhone 13.
Here is how it works:
- Your iPhone 13 is unlocked – notifications will reach the phone and not your watch.
- Your iPhone 13 is locked – notifications will reach your Apple Watch. There will be no sound from your phone and its screen will not light up.
If you want to receive your phone notifications on your phone instead of your watch, follow the steps below:
- Go to Watch App on your phone.
- From there, go to the ‘My Watch’ section.
